The Governor of the Central Bank and the Iranian Ambassador discuss the payment of financial dues to Tehran
Shafaq News/ The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Mukhif, discussed today, Monday, with the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, Muhammad Kazem Al Sadiq, the payment of the financial dues owed by Iraq to Iran.
A statement by the bank, received by Shafak News Agency, said, "Makhif congratulated the ambassador on the occasion of assuming the position, looking forward to greater cooperation in the next stage."
During the meeting, according to the statement, they "discussed aspects of banking and economic cooperation between the two countries, paying the financial dues owed by Iraq, and overcoming the obstacles facing the work of Iranian companies in the country."
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq stressed his keenness to "develop and strengthen banking relations to serve the interests of the two countries and open new horizons of bilateral relations."
And last May, the General Director of the National Iranian Gas Company, Majid Jakini, announced that Iraq owes an amount of 1.6 billion dollars for importing gas from Iran, indicating that this country must pay its debt within a maximum period of one month.
