Today, Monday, the Central Bank of Iraq announced effective measures and proactive measures to protect the banking sector and combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
And the Central Bank stated in a statement, that "the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb, received today a delegation from the Egmont Group, to discuss Iraq's accession to the group, and during the meeting, aspects of bilateral cooperation between the Central Bank of Iraq and the group were discussed, after taking due diligence measures."
And Makheeb, according to the statement, "the Central Bank of Iraq's keenness to strengthen relations with international organizations concerned with combating money laundering and terrorist financing."
He added, "The Central Bank of Iraq attaches great importance to combating all criminal activities and eliminating sources of money laundering and financing terrorism and other financial crimes, looking forward to expanding the scope of international cooperation in the field of information exchange."
He added, "The Central Bank has taken effective and proactive measures to protect the banking sector and combat money laundering and terrorist financing."
The Central Bank of Iraq noted that "the Egmont Group is a global network that works to enhance communication and interaction between financial intelligence units, named after the venue of its first meeting in Brussels in June 1995, and aims to provide a forum for financial intelligence units around the world to provide support to governments ".
