Today, Wednesday, Planning Minister Khaled Battal confirmed that the Iraqi government has allocated the necessary funds for the establishment of the Faw port.
Battal said in a meeting within the activities of the Rafidain Forum, that the Silk Road passes through countries that own 55 percent of global output and 70 percent of energy production, noting that "Iraq has an opportunity to exploit the Faw port in addition to extending railways, which will be positive."
He added, "The government has allocated to the Faw port the necessary funds to establish 5 berths," noting that "the port should not be only for transporting goods."
He stated that "China has adopted the international road economically, and there are understandings to secure this road."
