The Federal Integrity Commission announced, on Sunday, the arrest of three officials in the branch of the General Tax Authority in Kirkuk Governorate, on charges of bribery.
And the investigation department of the authority stated, according to a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the competent judge of the Kirkuk Investigation Court issued an arrest warrant against the director of the branch of the General Tax Authority in the province and the deputy of the branch, on charges of blackmailing the auditors, and taking bribes from them, in return for completing the tasks assigned to them to conduct their transactions. ".
The department stated, "The arrest warrant came against the background of the operation in which one of the assessors in the Kirkuk tax was caught red-handed, which in turn admitted that it was an intermediary, and that the amounts were in the interest of the branch director of the General Authority for Taxes in Kirkuk Governorate and the deputy director of the branch, in exchange for the completion of citizens' transactions. The judge issued a summons order against them.
And she added, "The competent judge, after reviewing the fundamentalist seizure report and the preliminary investigative papers, which included the assessed confessions and the statements of the director of the Kirkuk branch and the representative of the branch after they appeared before the judiciary, decided to arrest the three suspects pending investigation."
