"Water is a structural and life issue, and the demand for water in Iraq is increasing due to its modernity and civilization, as well as the agricultural sector, which is still using the old methods of irrigation," said Salim Rohana, responsible for sustainable development programs in the Levant region.
He added, "The climate change factor and the decrease in rainfall could increase the water shortage by 20 percent, up to the year 2040."
