    Shafaq News / The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein revealed, on Monday, the intention of the negotiating delegation, which will visit Washington the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, to discuss Baghdad's cooperation file with Russian companies.





    Hussein said during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in Baghdad, which was attended by Shafaq News Agency: "First, we welcome the visit of the Russian delegation to Baghdad, which is an important opportunity to see the Russian side's point of view on various issues."
    He added, "The bilateral talks with the Russian side touched on cooperation in the security and economic aspects, as well as how to deal with the financial dues of Russian companies operating in Iraq."
    Hussein added, "We will have a visit to Washington next Wednesday, and there we will discuss the possibility of cooperation with Russian companies," as Russia faces economic sanctions imposed by the United States and European countries, which may necessitate not dealing in dollars in paying dues.  
    And on the Russian-Ukrainian war, the foreign minister indicated that "Iraq's position is clear on wars, and urges a cease-fire between the two sides," stressing that "an end to the crisis must take place through dialogue."

    Yesterday, Sunday, Lavrov arrived in the capital, Baghdad, on an official visit, as part of a high-level delegation, to discuss developments in the region and enhance cooperation between the two countries.
    The government delegation, headed by the Russian Foreign Minister to Baghdad, included government and diplomatic figures, various companies, and media professionals from several Russian institutions.
    Recently, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Moroccan Nasser Bourita visited Baghdad, in addition to a visit by an American delegation headed by the White House coordinator for Middle East and North Africa affairs, Brett McGurk.

    For his part, the Russian minister said: "We discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Moscow and investment opportunities, and that the joint committee between Iraq and Russia will hold its meetings in Baghdad," indicating: "We discussed the situation in the Gulf region, and we stress the need to coordinate positions."
    He stressed, "We are continuing to coordinate with the Iraqi side on regional issues, especially the Palestinian issue, and we support Iraq's position calling for peace between Russia and Ukraine."


    He pointed out that "Russian investments in the oil field have exceeded 10 billion dollars, and that Russian oil companies will abide by the legal controls in Iraq."
    Yesterday, Sunday, the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, confirmed that the visit comes in the context of strengthening Iraq's role in coordinating regional and international interactions. And that the visit will discuss the most important developments in the region, explore common visions and find basic approaches between Baghdad and Moscow on the most important challenges that should be worked on jointly, as well as strengthening the security and stability of the region around it, the most important files that need convergence in visions and positions at the regional and international levels. 
    Earlier on Saturday morning, Iraqi sources revealed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that a high-ranking Russian delegation headed by Lavrov will arrive in the capital, Baghdad, and that it will hold a series of talks, which he described as important.
