For ten consecutive days, the holy city of Karbala hosted the Egyptian Shopping Fair in its sixth edition, as the exhibition pavilions included multiple shows, with the participation of international companies from Pakistan, Iran, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, India and Palestine, as well as Iraqi and Kurdistan companies.
Amir Fawzy, one of the Egyptian companies participating in the exhibition, told Al-Sabah: The exhibition included various products, such as folklore industries that reflected the Pharaonic civilization, as well as textile products, food, luxuries, and perfumes, indicating that the aim of holding exhibitions is to exchange and meet civilizations and cultures, as well as commercial exchange. To achieve economic integration among the Arab countries, to identify the needs of each country and strive to provide them.
Economic experts believe that the importance of holding economic exhibitions and shopping festivals that roam cities and governorates lies in building bridges of communication between the cultures of peoples, especially those that represent a civilized and cultural depth. And by adopting similar international experiences.
Economic analyst Hadi al-Ayashi said in this regard to "Al-Sabah": The exhibitions that are now being held between Iraq and Egypt have great significance, as they show the convergence of civilizations between countries and an opportunity for people to learn about the culture of other countries and their industries and products in various fields, noting that the absence of the national product from the exhibition It was a prominent feature, which requires sharpening efforts for the advancement of the various industrial sectors in the country.
What Ayachi mentioned comes amid calls from several quarters to support the local product and restore confidence between it and the citizen, in order to improve the level of industry in the country.
Lubna Mizel, who was among the visitors to the exhibition, says: The joy in the exhibition was incomplete, as the participations for the national product were very shy, with the exception of Kurdistan, indicating that the citizen knows very well that the national product is of no less quality than the products presented here, but he is unable to market himself to the world. Although Iraq has solid companies and products that it is proud of.
Observers believe that the government must prove its role in supporting the national product financially and morally, by facilitating the circulation of products or by providing appropriate production requirements, in addition to providing protection for it from its foreign counterpart, which will maintain the level of domestic production and improve its quality.
Those in charge of holding such commercial and economic exhibitions in the country aspire to open the door for (Iraqi-Arab) communication, thus contributing to the development of the financial and business sector and reviving the local economic movement, especially in the Iraqi religious cities of a touristic nature, such as the holy Karbala and the honorable Najaf.
