    Economy News-Baghdad
The World Bank announced that the annual food inflation in Iraq amounted to 6.5% during the year 2022, while an economist considered that this percentage is dangerous for the rents of the Iraqi economy.
The bank said in a report that "domestic food price inflation is still high around the world, recording 5 percent," noting that "the number of people suffering from a food crisis is expected to reach 205.1 million people in 45 countries."
He added, "The annual food inflation in Iraq for the year 2022 amounted to 6.5 percent," noting that "this inflation is relatively high in relation to global inflation indicators."
The bank indicated that "the lowest food inflation during the year 2022 was in Jordan, which reached 0.6%, followed by Qatar at 1.6%, then Libya, in which inflation reached 3.8%, and Saudi Arabia 4.3%."
He pointed out that "the highest inflation among the Arab countries was in Lebanon, where food inflation reached 142.9%, while food inflation in Egypt reached 37.3%, in Morocco 15% and in Algeria 13.3%."
And the World Bank continued, according to the report, that "food inflation for Iran and Turkey amounted to 84 percent and 70.1 percent, respectively."

Shafaq News/ The World Bank announced that the annual food inflation in Iraq amounted to 6.5% during the year 2022, while an economist considered that this percentage is dangerous for the rents of the Iraqi economy.
"Domestic food price inflation is still high around the world, recording 5%," the bank said in a report seen by Shafaq News agency, noting that "the number of people suffering from a food crisis is expected to reach 205.1 million people in 45 countries." .

He added, "The annual food inflation in Iraq for the year 2022 amounted to 6.5 percent," noting that "this inflation is relatively high in relation to global inflation indicators."
On the Arab level, the bank indicated that “the lowest food inflation during the year 2022 was in Jordan, which reached 0.6%, followed by Qatar at 1.6%, then Libya, in which inflation reached 3.8%, and Saudi Arabia 4.3%,” noting that “the highest inflation is among The Arab countries had the share of Lebanon, in which food inflation reached 142.9%, while food inflation in Egypt reached 37.3%, in Morocco 15% and in Algeria 13.3%.
She added, "Food inflation for Iran and Turkey amounted to 84% and 70.1%, respectively."
For his part, the economist, Muhammad al-Hassani, said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency, "The rate of food inflation in Iraq is considered normal when compared to the rest of the world, where food inflation has also risen to high levels, but these indicators remain dangerous for Iraq as a result of the rentier economy." .
He added, "The rise in food inflation in the world appeared significantly after the Russian-Ukrainian war, and although it decreased later, countries such as Iraq did not decrease in it, which requires decision-makers to take the necessary steps to diversify the economy and pay more attention to developing the agricultural and industrial sector, which are still neglected." Until now, they contribute only 2% of the gross national product.
