    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Thursday, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mueen Al-Kazemi, revealed the details of the Kurdistan region’s share in the 2023 budget law, indicating that it is one of the reasons for delaying the law.
Al-Kazemi said, to (Baghdad Today), that "until now, the share of the Kurdistan region within the draft budget law for the year 2023 has not been finally decided," noting that "dialogues are continuing to resolve this file, which is one of the reasons for delaying the approval of the budget by the Council of Ministers." .
He added, "The closest percentage to the region's share within the draft budget law for the year 2023 is 12.67%, which is the same percentage that was granted to the region in the previous budget," noting that "dialogues and negotiations are continuing, and it is possible to resolve matters during the next two days."
Yesterday, Wednesday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party announced its rejection of the Kurdistan Region’s share in the 2023 budget, amounting to 12.67%, according to what the party’s leader, Wafaa Muhammad Karim, told (Baghdad Today).
Karim said, "There are those who want to impose a percentage of 12.67% as a share for the Kurdistan region within the budget for the year 2023, as this percentage is rejected and it is very small in relation to the population census of the region."
And Karim indicated that "the lowest percentage that we can accept as a share for the region in the budget for the year 2023 is 14%, and this comes within the population census of the Ministry of Planning, and dialogues and negotiations are continuing in order to finally settle the region's share within the budget."
Earlier, the representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Ikhlas Al-Dulaimi, confirmed in a press statement that a final agreement had been reached between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government, specifying the region's share in the budget at 12.67%.
