Shafaq News/ After the accusations raised against most of the banking offices of not adhering to the official rate announced by the Central Bank, which amounts to 131,000 dinars for 100 US dollars, new accusations have been raised against tourism companies of manipulating and trading in the dollar by granting a free trip to each person who surrenders his passport and his share of the dollar.
This issue arose after economist Hamza Mahmoud Shamkhi said in a televised interview that "we have heard that some tourism companies have announced free trips to certain countries for a week in exchange for handing over the passport and its share of the dollar."

On February 8, Iraqi Airways announced that air tickets would be approved in dinars instead of dollars for the purpose of supporting the Iraqi dinar.
    The issue is not hidden
The head of the Federation of Tourist Companies in Karbala, Tawfiq Al-Daami, said in an interview with Shafaq News agency; That "some of the existing travel companies deal in this way, and it is not hidden from anyone, and these companies, when they take the dollar, they provide a free tourist service to the traveler," adding that "these companies are few and do not exist in Karbala Governorate or other governorates, but they are present in a limited way in some tourism companies." in Baghdad".
He added, "Some citizens are also conducting a fraud by creating a fake ticket in order to obtain dollars and sell them in exchange for profits due to the price difference between the official and the black market."
He pointed out that "the state's granting travelers the advantages of obtaining the dollar is not only trading in dollars, but the biggest mistake is promoting tourism to countries with Iraqi funds, and it will revive the market and hotels in those countries at the expense of Iraqi funds."
    Economic crimes
Economic and financial expert Hilal Al-Taan said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency: "This phenomenon is unacceptable and an illegal method, and it is a fraud to buy dollars at an official rate from state departments," noting that "tourism companies are supposed to support the government's decision to reduce the official exchange rate to 1320 dinars per 100 dollars for the purpose of stabilizing the market in Iraq."
He continued, "These illegal actions carried out by some travel companies lead to fluctuation of the exchange rates of the dollar in the parallel market and to a rise in the price, and prices become unstable in the Iraqi market and do not serve the state or society," noting that "the competent authorities are supposed to hold the companies accountable." Those who carry out these illegal acts and punish them, as this act falls under the heading of economic crime.
    Questioning corporate integrity
A number of citizens called on the government and the Ministry of Transport to issue directives to travel and tourism companies to adopt tickets and airline prices in Iraqi dinars instead of dollars.
The citizen, Umm Muhammad, said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency: “Tourism companies are asking us to pay dollars to travel with them,” indicating that one of the companies we traveled with for the purpose of “Umrah” demanded that we pay 1,100 dollars, while the company refused to hand us the passport two days before we went for the purpose of obtaining the dollar and did not hand it over to us until before we boarded the plane. minutes."
She added, "This process raised suspicions that the company is carrying out the process of obtaining dollars through our passports and taking advantage of the price difference."
In an interview with Shafaq News agency, the citizen, Adel Rashid, called on the government and the Ministry of Transport to "issue directives to travel and tourism companies to adopt the prices of tickets and flights in Iraqi dinars instead of the dollar, as the companies oblige the traveler to pay the dollar, not the dinar."
He added, "All companies are trying to defraud citizens by obliging them to pay the dollar to take advantage of the currency difference, indicating that these companies are masterful in obtaining the dollar despite what they get from the profits of tourist trips (crobats)."
    Maximum penalties
Representative Alia Nassif called on the National Security and Intelligence Service to prosecute corrupt companies that use a new method by running (free flights) for people to Dubai, Beirut and Cairo for a week or less with free hotel stay, in exchange for obtaining travelers’ dollars and smuggling them or reselling them.
Nassif called on the Iraqi judiciary to apply the maximum penalties to saboteurs and tampering with the country's economy, whether company owners or officials who are complicit with them, whatever their positions.
    corporate agreement
Shafaq News agency contacted a number of travel and tourism companies in the capital, Baghdad, and all of these companies had requested the dollar currency for the purpose of obtaining a travel ticket, rejecting the Iraqi dinar.
