Parliamentary Energy: Substantial support for the electricity sector in the budget

The Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee is optimistic about the draft general budget presented to parliament regarding large allocations for the electricity sector and its proposal for investment, noting that Iraq tends to rely on its own capabilities in producing electricity and gradually cutting its import with a solid plan of action.
Committee member Amang Herki said: "The federal budget includes large financial allocations for the maintenance and recycling of electric power stations," explaining that "the budget focused on electricity, especially in the direction of renewable and solar energy, and the task of the committee will be to continue working on the implementation of these tasks by reviewing Companies that will invest in electric power and building stations to bypass next summer.
Herky added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "the government is heading towards not relying on electricity-providing countries and relying on internal electrical stations and with gradual plans as much as possible until reaching full coverage of the country's need," noting that "the government program included these plans regarding the adoption of Iraq stands for its own capabilities in stabilizing and developing electric energy and offering investments in it through solar and renewable energy.
