, Secretary-General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Heim Al-Ghais, stressed, on Tuesday, the importance of the role that Iraq plays as an active member in the organization and in ministerial committees, including the Ministerial Oversight Committee, as well as its contribution to the stability of global oil markets.
Al-Ghais said during his visit and his accompanying delegation to the "People's Hall" in Baghdad, which hosted the first founding meeting of the organization in 1960, that "the organization is preparing to celebrate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil, the 60th anniversary of the founding of OPEC in Baghdad, which hosted the first founding meeting in the People's Hall in 1960, and the celebration was postponed More than once, due to the Corona pandemic.

The statement added that Al-Ghais "toured around the People's Hall, accompanied by the Director General of the Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), Ammar Abdullah, and listened to an explanation given by the ministry's spokesman and head of the media committee for the OPEC celebration, Assem Jihad, about the history of this hall and the ministry's efforts in the rehabilitation, development and preservation process." on this historic edifice.
