On Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture revealed measures to curb the rise in meat prices in the market.
Undersecretary Mahdi Sahar said, "The ministry has taken several measures to counter the high prices of red meat in local markets, including facilitating the transportation of live sheep and cows between the governorates and the region, and allowing the import of meat from all countries of the world except for the banned countries," noting that "these measures will contribute to reducing Meat prices during the coming period in the markets.
Regarding poultry meat, Sahar indicated that "the ministry allowed the import of meat from abroad, in addition to the increase in Iraq's production of meat in fields operating in all governorates," pointing to "the existence of a balance between import from abroad and the local product."
