A member of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Aqil Al-Fatlawi, confirmed that the development road project will contribute to reviving the economic, industrial and commercial sectors and achieving development gains for Iraq.
Al-Fatlawi said in a press interview seen by “Takadum” that “the development path project will contribute to providing job opportunities for the workforce,” noting that “the project would revive the economic, industrial and commercial sectors in Iraq.”
He added, "The road extends for more than a thousand kilometers, starting from the Iraqi ports overlooking the Arabian Gulf, all the way to Turkey," noting that "the project is a railway link between the Gulf countries and Turkey."
He explained that "the project will provide more than 100,000 job opportunities," believing that "the road will constitute a quantum leap in the economic and commercial reality of Iraq."
And the deputy stated that “the road represents a global corridor for the transport of goods,” stressing that “Iraq will achieve real development gains that will contribute to diversifying its financial sources in the event of implementing the project.”
Next Saturday, Baghdad will host a conference of transport ministers of neighboring countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council to discuss the “strategic development road” project, which connects the city of Basra overlooking the waters of the Arabian Gulf with Turkish lands, which was agreed upon by Baghdad and Ankara as part of a huge commercial and economic cooperation project between the two countries.
