Today, Saturday, the representative of the State of Law coalition, Jawad Al-Ghazali, confirmed that the reason for not disclosing the financial liabilities of officials and political parties is the weakness of the punishment and the failure to take legal measures in this regard.
Al-Ghazali said in a statement to "Al-Mutala" agency, "The government, especially the Integrity Commission, has begun practical steps regarding the file of combating rampant corruption in the joints of the state and opening many cases that have not been revealed before."
He added, "There is a clear negligence with regard to the issue of punishment towards the corrupt and those involved in corruption cases, if the accused is referred to retirement, which gives an excuse for others to continue with corruption."
He pointed out, "There is favoritism in the implementation of penalties, and everyone knows what happened with the child who stole the Kleenex, how he was tried and sentenced to years in prison, while the corrupt official was rewarded with dismissal."
And he added, "Getting rid of the scourge of corruption requires everyone's cooperation, as well as applying penalties according to legal texts literally, without exception," noting that "the reason for not revealing the financial liabilities of officials and parties is the weakness of the punishment taken against them."
