    The Ministry of Water Resources stated that Iraq is going through the most difficult stage of drought for the fourth season in a row, which prompted it to develop urgent solutions and remedies to overcome this, revealing positive indicators of an increase in the rates of water releases from Turkey to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers during the current summer.  
    Minister Aoun Dhiab Abdullah said in an interview with the official newspaper, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "Iraq is going through the most difficult stage of drought for the fourth season in a row, due to the lack of water releases and its impact on the levels of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and the country's strategic reserves, which prompted the government to prevent cultivation." Grasshoppers and yellow corn for the current season are in dire need of ample amounts of water.  
    And he indicated that "his ministry is making unremitting and exceptional efforts to secure drinking water and domestic, industrial, health and environmental needs, in addition to the marshlands' quotas and improving the rivers' environment, as it applies a fair and strict partnership system for water distribution."  
    Abdullah revealed "the existence of positive indicators and understandings with the Turkish side to activate the terms of the memorandum of understanding between the two countries, the most important of which is the summer operational plan for its dams and reservoirs, on the basis of which the country's water plan will be prepared," stressing that "Iraq, during its contact with the Turkish side, touched positive indicators by increasing the rates of water releases of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers this summer.  
    He pointed out that "his ministry has reached treatments and solutions to reduce water scarcity, such as the construction of dams to harvest water in the western and southern deserts to enhance groundwater storage and benefit from it by supporting the agricultural sector, in addition to campaigns to remove and fill unauthorized fish lakes, which number five thousand, and have resulted so far, More than 40 percent of it has been demolished.  
    And the Minister of Resources continued, "The treatments include removing the unlicensed pumps from the Euphrates River, and installing additional floating ones at the Tharthar station to raise the water discharge to the tails of the rivers in the governorates of Basra, Dhi Qar, Muthanna, Diwaniyah and Babel, from the current 70 m3 / s to 100 m3 / s, with the implementation of projects." The lining of the canals (concrete quilts), in addition to the suspended canals to reduce water losses in order to ensure that all water rations reach those who deserve it.
