Baghdad: Haider Al-Jaber,
the House of Representatives will resume today, Saturday, its first session in its new legislative term after the end of its constitutional recess, which began immediately after the approval of the general budget law, as each legislative term lasts 3 months, to be followed by a compulsory constitutional leave, which extends for one month, and is scheduled to be held Parliament has two sessions this week, today Saturday and next Monday.
Representative Kazem Al-Touki explained that "the House of Representatives will work diligently to monitor the implementation of the budget and pass a number of important laws, which number more than 150 draft laws."
Al-Touki told Al-Sabah: "The current budget is the largest in the history of Iraq, and it has been distributed among ministries and state institutions," adding that "through the council's committees, spending and project implementation will be monitored, and the council will work on oil development and gas extraction."
Al-Touki continued, "Monitoring the implementation of the budget may be more important than the budget, through the specialized committees, in addition to continuing to pass important laws," noting that there are "hundreds of draft laws that have been parked for more than two years, the most important of which are oil and gas, the amendment of the retirement law, and the amendment of the ladder salaries, and the slums law.
For his part, MP Karwan Ali stressed the continued approval of important projects.
Ali said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "It is the duty of Parliament to start monitoring the government and follow it up during the spending operations," pointing out that "the legislative authority today has many laws that are read for the first and second time, such as the law establishing the Halabja Governorate, and the Communications and Informatics Law, And the oil and gas law, which is the most important according to the government’s approach, and it must be approved very soon.”
The first session, which will be held today, Saturday, includes 7 articles, while the next Monday session will include 5 articles.
