Today, Saturday (July 22, 2023), the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed full commitment to the Vienna Convention to regulate diplomatic relations between countries, while noting that what the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden was subjected to in Baghdad is an act that cannot be repeated.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms full commitment to the Vienna Convention to regulate diplomatic relations between countries, and renews its letter to resident diplomatic missions, that the Iraqi government is responsible for providing protection and security for diplomatic staff working in all missions," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, in a statement seen by Zakros Arabia.

She added, "What the Swedish embassy in Baghdad was subjected to is an act that cannot be repeated, and that any similar act will be subject to legal accountability."
