The Ministry of Commerce stated that its monitoring teams monitor the prices of materials in the local markets daily, confirming that there is no increase in food prices, in conjunction with that, the Ministry is preparing to launch the seventh food basket.
The Director of Commercial Control at the Ministry, Riyad Al-Moussawi, said in a press statement that the prices of the food basket items, which are monitored daily by the Ministry’s control teams, did not witness an increase in the market and merchants, referring to the ministry’s direct distribution of the sixth food basket and its preparations to launch the seventh of them, in addition to those related to social care. .
He stated that the oversight teams work in cooperation with the fight against organized crime and national security, to follow up on local markets and limit the leakage of food basket materials to other places, which may cause an increase in their prices, indicating his ministry's keenness to follow up on the arrival of food basket materials to the citizen properly through its agents.
In the same context, the General Company for Foodstuff Trade, Najaf branch, announced the distribution of the sixth food basket among the citizens of Najaf, and is preparing to prepare the seventh of it, according to what the branch manager, Haider Shabaa, said.
He added to "Al-Sabah" that the materials within the sixth basket for those covered by social care, which is being prepared, include sugar, oil, tea and milk, noting that the basket is additional in addition to what they receive from the ration card.
He noted that the general direction of the ministry is to provide strategic stocks of foodstuffs according to the available storage capacity in anticipation of any emergency, stressing that the available stocks of foodstuffs in warehouses at the level of Iraq are reassuring and sufficient for several months.
