Saudi Arabia and Kuwait renewed their previous and repeated calls for Iran to negotiate about the eastern border of the submerged area divided with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as one negotiating party, and Iran as another party, in accordance with the provisions of international law and the principles of good neighborliness.
Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have an "exclusive right" to the Dorra gas field in the Gulf, according to the Kuwaiti oil minister.[url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/Entity/3415939468/%D8%B3%D8%B9%D8%AF %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A8%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%83/ar/]Saad Al-Barrak[/url], who called on Iran to begin demarcating its maritime borders in order to assert its claims in the field.
Al-Barrak added, "Until this moment, this is an exclusive right for Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the Al-Durra field, and whoever has a claim must start demarcating the borders, and if he has a right, he will take it according to the rules of international law."
In December 2022, Aramco Gulf Operations Company and Kuwait Gulf Oil Company signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the joint Dorra gas field between the two countries.
The signing of the memorandum is an implementation of the minutes of the submerged Dorra field development signed in March 2022, so that work on the Dorra field development project will be resumed directly, and work will be accelerated according to the program implementation plan and the timetable approved by the two countries.
