    Today, Saturday (September 2, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani opened the Safwan border crossing with the State of Kuwait, after its rehabilitation.

    The statement indicated that "the crossing extends over an area of ​​about (291) dunums, and its new design takes into account increasing the capacity for the passage of trucks and passengers to reach about (1000) trucks and wheels per day, and by using the latest technologies in the field of completing customs transactions and clearing goods electronically, which It will increase customs revenues, reduce congestion, and effectively promote economic and commercial recovery, in addition to stimulating tourism between Iraq and the Arab Gulf states."
    After that, the Prime Minister moved between a number of Husseini processions near the port, and met those in charge of them and a number of citizens, and praised their generosity as they received the guests of Iraq from the visitors to the holy city of Karbala, to participate in the forty-day ceremonies of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
    Al-Sudani had arrived this morning in Basra Governorate this morning, Saturday, and laid the foundation stone for the railway link project with Iran (Basra-Shalamjah).
