    Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Iraqi Council of Ministers meets today, and at its meeting it will discuss the issue of salaries for Kurdistan Region employees. The Iraqi Minister of Justice says that he is optimistic that the meeting will issue a decision that is in the interest of Kurdistan Region employees.
    The Iraqi Council of Ministers is scheduled to meet at one o’clock in the afternoon today, Sunday (September 17, 2023), headed by Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani. Iraqi Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani announced to Rudaw Media Network correspondent Halkut Aziz that one of the topics that will be discussed in the Iraqi Council of Ministers meeting is Salaries of Kurdistan Region employees.
    Khaled Shwani indicated that they are engaged in talks with most Iraqi ministers “to mobilize support for launching the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees, and that a vote will be held today on this issue in a way that is in the interest of the people of Kurdistan and Kurdistan Region employees.”
    The Iraqi Minister of Justice stated that he is optimistic that today's meeting of the Iraqi Council of Ministers will release financial benefits to employees of the Kurdistan Region.
    Khaled Shawani added that the amount that will be allocated to cover the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees, and the decision to release it will be taken today, is not known.
    The Iraqi Council of Ministers meeting comes while a delegation from the Kurdistan Region, headed by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani and his deputy, Qubad Talabani, visited Baghdad on Thursday (September 14, 2023). The delegation held a series of meetings with senior Iraqi officials and political parties, and part of those meetings was devoted to discussing financial dues. For the Kurdistan Region, including the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees.
