Specialists in political and international affairs pointed out that Iraq cannot regain its political standing in international circles through festivals and artistic programs, indicating that restoring Iraq’s standing must be through a comprehensive, radical reconsideration to deepen and root its foreign policy.
The head of the Iraq Center for Strategic Studies, Dr. Ghazi Faisal, stated in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “Iraq - after twenty years - and at the level of international relations between the East and the West needs a comprehensive, radical reconsideration to deepen and root its foreign policy.”
He added, "Iraq today has been able, through the Sudanese government, to move from unilateral relations to multilateral relations at the regional level, as there has been openness to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the signing of an agreement to form the Joint Economic Council and openness to the countries of the Arab Gulf, especially the Emirates and Qatar, in addition to Bahrain. Iraq has also opened up." In his foreign policy on Jordan and Egypt and through the tripartite summit meetings to strengthen strategic security, economic and political partnership relations and achieve integration at various levels, in addition to the first and second Baghdad regional conferences, which included the French president and representatives of the European Union and the United Nations, in addition to a group of countries, all of which constituted transformations. For his part, the head of the "Al-Sharq Center for Strategic Studies and Information", Ali Mahdi Al-Araji, stated in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "Iraq's return to international roles will be achieved through its distinguished presence in international forums and the involvement of political actors in resolving public crises, as well as that A similar system for exchanging entry visas and raising the status and importance of the Iraqi passport, and for Iraqi missions to play a distinct role in shaping public relations. Here, the role of foreign policy appears clearly. In the past few years, we have witnessed distinguished activity in shaping Saudi-Iranian relations, as the government at that time worked to “Creating a balance camp without falling into the abyss of bias towards one of the two countries and without harming relations with Iraq. This is an approach that will bring us back to the international arena.”
He added, "Trade exchange imposes a real force on the ground, one of the results of which is to change the political structure of countries. What we are suffering from from the water crisis with Turkey can be solved in the amount of trade exchange between the two countries, which amounts to 24 billion dollars.
