The Turkish Statistics Authority announced today, Monday, that Iraqis ranked third among the countries that purchased the most real estate during the current month, which is the same rank they occupied in the previous month.
The authority said in a report seen by Al-Iqtisad News that home sales decreased by 9.5% last September compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 102,656 purchases, and Istanbul had the highest share at 14.9%, with a rate of 15,247. Real estate sales, Ankara came in second place with sales of 9,048 properties, and Izmir with sales of 5,476 properties, with a share of 8.8%.
The report indicated that the Russians topped the rest of the countries in buying the most real estate in Turkey last September with 722 homes, and the Iranians came in second place with 327 homes, the Iraqis third with 191 homes, the Germans fourth with 148 homes, and the Ukrainians fifth with 122 homes.
Among the Arab countries, Kuwait came after Iraq in terms of purchasing homes in Turkey with 96 homes, followed by Egypt with 59 homes, Saudi Arabia with 56 homes, then Qatar with 40 homes, and finally Yemen with 38 homes.
Iraqis have always topped the world's list of home buyers in Turkey since 2015, but their ranking fell to second place after Iran at the beginning of 2021, before falling to third place since April 2022 after Russia's dominance of Turkish real estate.
