     Today, Thursday, the Local Union of Agricultural Associations revealed the launch of the 9-point paper to stop water wastage in Diyala Governorate.
    The head of the local union of agricultural associations in Diyala, Raad Mughamis, said in an interview with Al-Ma’louma, “Water waste in Diyala, despite the drought, exists and is represented in multiple forms, the most prominent of which is that 90% of the rivers and streams have not been lined, despite the importance of the matter in reducing water depletion, in addition to the fact that The percentage of modern irrigation mechanisms does not exceed 10%.”
    He added, "The Union has prepared a comprehensive 9-point paper outlining solutions to stop water wastage in Diyala, the most prominent of which is adopting lining projects planned for years in 13 agricultural provinces and seeking to pay soft financial loans to install modern irrigation stations, in addition to reconsidering the mortgage file, especially for orchards, and supporting steps Desalination of well water, especially in remote areas.
    He pointed out that "the paper, if adopted objectively in its specific points, will reduce the rate of waste in the currently available quantities by no less than 60%, which is an important step that will enhance the ability to challenge any future drought crises."
    Diyala Governorate suffered from repeated drought crises in recent years, which led to the decline of agricultural plans at high rates.
