    After the worsening crisis in the price of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar, which lasted for months, and government attempts to contain the crisis, the Badr parliamentary bloc expected a decline in exchange rates early next year. 
    MP from the Badr parliamentary bloc, Karim Al-Mohammadawi, confirmed today, Friday (December 1, 2023), that the US dollar will continue to decline in the parallel market, explaining the reason for this.
    Al-Muhammadawi told Baghdad Today, “The Central Bank has taken important steps over the past few days in order to control the dollar exchange rate, and that is why we see a gradual decline in the dollar exchange rate in the parallel market.”
    Al-Mohammadawi expected that “the dollar exchange rate will continue to decline,” adding, “We believe that with the beginning of the first months of the new year, the dollar exchange rate in the parallel market will be very close to the official price, especially as the government and the Central Bank continue to take decisions to provide the dollar and diversify the basket of foreign currencies in the country.” Foreign commercial transactions.
    On November 15, 2023, a government source revealed that the Central Bank had issued official approvals to three private banks to import the US dollar. 
    The source told "Baghdad Today", "The Central Bank issued official approvals to three Iraqi private banks to import the US dollar to meet their customers' need for this currency in amounts amounting to (100) million dollars, noting that the shipment of one of the banks has actually arrived in Iraq." 
    Meanwhile, a source in the Central Bank of Iraq confirmed, on Wednesday (November 29, 2023), the arrival of “dollar” shipments to Baghdad International Airport, imported by Iraqi banks. 
    The source explained to “Baghdad Today,” “The dollar shipments continue to arrive through Baghdad International Airport and are imported by Iraqi banks to meet customer requests.”
