    On Wednesday, December 3, the Director of Environmental Changes at the Ministry of Environment, Yousef Muayyad Al-Hadithi, announced agreement on the Dubai Climate Declaration.

    The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani, the day before yesterday, Tuesday, defended the production of fossil fuels in response to the recent demands and calls to limit it and even dispense with it, which were issued by the “COP28” climate conference that was held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. .
    This came during his chairmanship of the second ministerial session on energy, environment and sustainable development within the activities of the 12th Arab Energy Conference.
    The COP28 Conference of the Parties to Climate Change approved the historic “UAE Agreement” for climate action, putting the world on the right track to preserve the planet.
    Representatives of 197 countries participating in COP28 approved the “UAE Agreement” for climate action on Wednesday.
    The UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, President of the Conference of the Parties (COP28), Sultan Al Jaber, praised the success in developing the COP system and providing an effective response to the results of the global outcome.

    The “Historic UAE Agreement” is considered an exceptional turning point in the process of international climate action, develops the system of conferences of the parties, and succeeds in including comprehensive provisions related to traditional fuels for the first time.
    Al Jaber said during his speech at the closing session of COP28: We achieved a lot together in a short time and within two weeks, we worked hard and sincerely to build a better future for our people and our planet.
    He added that the world needed a new course of action, and by focusing on our main goal we arrived at that path.
    Al Jaber also said: We provided a comprehensive response to the results of the global toll, and accomplished all the necessary negotiating requirements, noting that we presented a solid plan of action to preserve the possibility of avoiding achieving the 1.5 degree Celsius goal, based on scientific facts.
    He explained that this action plan is balanced, contributes to reducing emissions, addressing the gaps in the issue of adaptation, developing and reformulating global climate financing mechanisms, and achieving the requirements for addressing losses and damages.
    Al-Jaber warned of the mobilization of new financing pledges to address the repercussions of climate change, amounting to more than $85 billion.
