Former member of the House of Representatives, Ghaleb Muhammad, on Tuesday criticized the Kurdistan government’s decision to compulsorily save employee salaries, while confirming that the regional government had failed to manage many of the outstanding issues with the center.
Muhammad said, in an interview with the “Al-Ma’louma” Agency, that “all employees do not know whether they will receive their salaries for the next month or not,” noting that “the existing government is illegitimate after the work of the judiciary and the House of Representatives in it stopped.”
He continued, "There is no solution to the crisis of salaries of employees in the region other than the localization of their salaries directly from the central government," pointing out that "the central government possesses all legal and constitutional powers to end this file."
Muhammad added during his speech: “All the employees of the region are keeping the regional government from paying salaries after the strike that included many government institutions and unions working in Kurdistan,” stressing that “the regional government has failed to manage many of the outstanding issues with the center.”
Observers confirm that the Kurdistan government continues to refrain from performing its duties by refraining from handing over the salaries of the region’s employees under the pretext of not sending them from the central government, while it still continues to illegally seize oil export funds, as well as revenues from border crossings, and despite the federal government sending More than 4 trillion Iraqi dinars in payments in the previous period.
