    The government media team confirmed, on Monday, the work to complete the construction of 1,000 model schools during the current year through 3 phases to accelerate completion rates, and to continue preparing plots of land to build 3,000 more within the school buildings project.
    The team’s spokesman, Haider Majeed, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the number of model school buildings completed by the end of the year 2023 was 30 schools, distributed among the governorates of Baghdad, Basra, Diwaniyah, Najaf Al-Ashraf, Holy Karbala, Babylon, and Wasit.”
    Majeed added, “In the current year 2024, we hope to complete the first phase of the project, which will number 1,000 schools, and in the next two months a large number of schools will be completed and delivered, according to reports arriving from representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in the governorates, as well as the Resident Engineer Department, as it has completed in many Including the stage of building external structures and turning work on them into the internal finishing stage.”
    He stated, “The School Projects and Buildings Department is working with the Council of Advisors of the Prime Minister’s Office and the local governments in the governorates and their education directorates to prepare plots of land to build 3,000 schools within the phase, and the plot preparation rate has exceeded 70%.”
    Majeed pointed out that “this project is being followed by the Prime Minister and receives his direct attention, as well as being continuously monitored by the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers and the Department of National Projects and School Buildings in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers through its representatives, and there are daily field visits through engineering and technical teams to keep up with Stages and rates of work, and there are also large numbers of sites witnessing night, day and evening work shifts according to the latest government directives.”
