    The Ministry of Agriculture obligated producers to sell poultry meat and table eggs in local markets, at cost, or withhold support from them if they did not comply, revealing its intention to operate all government projects for poultry and fodder production in the country.
    The Ministry’s Administrative Undersecretary, Dr. Mahdi Sahar al-Jubouri, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Iqtisad News” that the Ministry’s interest in distributing feed, veterinary supplies, vaccines and medicines for free among farmers, farmers and poultry producers after providing 2024 budget allocations will have a positive impact on animal production and increasing the number of livestock. Livestock, and contributes to reducing the prices of red and white meat and table eggs during the coming period.
    He continued that, accordingly, the Ministry formed a higher committee headed by one of its agents and membership of poultry producers and other supporting and related sectors, and issued a decision to oblige producers to sell poultry meat and table eggs at cost price, the prices of which have recently risen in the local markets, stressing that if they do not adhere to the committee price The Ministry will withhold free feed, medicines and veterinary supplies from them. Al-Jubouri stated that if prices drop as specified, the Ministry of Commerce will contract with producers to buy poultry and sell them at competitive prices through its marketing outlets and mobile vehicles in Baghdad and the governorates, with the aim of meeting the needs of citizens and local markets. He pointed out that there are other large projects belonging to the private sector within the governorates of Holy Karbala, Diwaniyah, and Wasit, which recently began supplying the local markets with large quantities of table eggs and poultry meat, noting that they are still at the beginning, but within two years from now, they will be able to offer large quantities. of the two materials to local markets.
    In the same context, the Undersecretary revealed his ministry’s intention to operate all government projects related to poultry fields in the country, in addition to those specialized in producing fodder, which will be provided free of charge and in large quantities to buffalo breeders within three governorates: Basra, Maysan, and Dhi Qar, which will firstly contribute to reducing feed prices in the country. The country, in addition to the great support for livestock breeders, will be reflected in the prices at which they will be sold to citizens.
    He stated that the private sector had been allowed more than a year ago to import table eggs, red and white meat, and most livestock products, in addition to importing calves and livestock for slaughter purposes only, provided that they were from origins free of epidemics and diseases, which contributed to providing both types of meat to citizens. At reasonable prices.
