    Al-Sumaria News - Economy

It is expected that Iraq will be ranked at the bottom in terms of annual economic growth for the year 2024, as it ranked 121st globally and 12th in the Arab world in terms of economic growth for the new year.

SeaWorld magazine says that a recent report indicates that global economic growth will slow to 2.4% in 2024 from 2.6% in 2023, and the decline in development can be attributed to strict monetary policies, weak international trade, and fragile financial conditions.

The short-term economic outlook presents a mixed outlook, with major economies slowing while emerging markets and developing economies show signs of improvement.

According to the magazine’s classification, which Al-Sumaria News reviewed, Iraq ranked 121 out of 189 countries in terms of expected economic growth for the year 2024, with a gross domestic product of more than 297 billion dollars, with a per capita share of more than 5 thousand and 880 dollars of gross domestic product, and with a development index. Humanity is 0.767.

Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland topped the list as the most developed countries in 2024.

As for the Arab countries, the Emirates came in first place, followed by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, and then Iraq in 12th place among the Arabs.

Perhaps it is surprising that Iraq comes after Palestine, Lebanon, or Jordan, but it is worth noting that the growth classification indicates the extent of progress that will be achieved in 2024 compared to 2023 economically, and it is known that Iraq’s economy depends entirely on oil, and since oil prices will not change much. Between 2023 and 2024, therefore, there will not be a significant change in the growth rate of Iraq’s economy, but it is also expected to decline slightly due to the expected decline in Iraqi oil exports as a result of the reduction in its production due to the voluntary reduction, as well as the cessation of Kurdistan’s exports, according to an analysis of the economic section in the Al-Sumaria newsroom.
