    The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that the decisions of the Federal Court and the steps taken against the Kurdistan Region and federalism in Iraq raise concerns, during a meeting in the US capital, Washington.

    Masrour Barzani’s media office stated in a statement received by Al-Sumaria News that the latter “met in Washington, DC, with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. During the friendly meeting, a number of issues of common interest related to strengthening bilateral relations and resolving controversial issues between the Kurdistan Region were discussed.” And the federal government.



    At the beginning of the meeting, the US Secretary of State praised the important position of the Kurdistan Region as a partner of his country's interest, noting that the United States' partnership with the region is built on the foundations of common values, interests, and sacrifices.

    The US Secretary of State also expressed his happiness with the Prime Minister's visit and his meetings in Washington, reaffirming US support for maintaining security, peace and stability in the Kurdistan Region as a federal entity within the framework of Iraq.

    The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the United States for its continued support for the Kurdistan Region, and said: “As a partner of America, we have faced many difficult stages together, and we hope to face new challenges side by side.”

    The meeting’s topics also included discussions on protecting the security of the Kurdistan region, resolving budget problems, ensuring the financial and constitutional rights of the citizens of Kurdistan, respecting the federal system and the constitutional entity of the region, protecting the rights of its components, and resuming the export of its oil, in addition to implementing the Sinjar Agreement and removing the militias from the region, according to the statement.

    The two sides agreed that the decisions of the Federal Court and the steps taken against the Kurdistan region and federalism in Iraq raise concerns, and that the constitutional entity of the region, the federal system and democratic principles in Iraq must be respected, according to the statement.

    According to the statement, the meeting witnessed a mutual affirmation of the need for the Kurdistan region to obtain its share of the budget in a fair and just manner.
