    A statement from the Commission received by Alsumaria News stated, “The Chairman of the Media and Communications Commission, Ali Al-Moayyad, met with the President of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan Martin, who affirmed their support for the Commission’s efforts and its fundamental regulatory role in developing the communications sector in Iraq.”


    The statement added, “During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the MWC 2024 International Mobile Conference held in Barcelona, ​​the fundamental role of regulatory bodies in developing the telecommunications sector, developing the telecommunications market, liberalizing infrastructure, and maintaining fair competition was discussed.”


    According to the statement, Bogdan-Martin praised the role played by the Communications and Media Commission in Iraq and affirmed its support for the Commission’s efforts to regulate and develop the communications and information technology sector, stressing that the Union looks forward to the Commission playing a major role in developing the communications sector in Iraq
