The Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee said that the policy of the Government Media and Communications Authority needs to be amended to suit the demands of the citizen, the state, and companies operating in the country, revealing that Korek still owes a billion dollars.
Committee member Aqeel Al-Fatlawi said in an interview with the official newspaper, followed by Mawazine News, that the committee is following the work of the Media and Communications Authority and there will be several hosts to solve the problems related to mobile phone companies related to this matter, stressing that the committee is in the process of solving many problems that will be settled with the Media Authority. Al-Fatlawi continued that the Authority refused to collect the money in the form of installments and preferred to pay it in full, noting that the Korek Company had agreed, after several lawsuits were filed in this regard, to pay the debts in installments, but the Authority’s insistence led to not receiving any amount. He noted that stopping the interconnection between Korek and the rest of the mobile phone companies caused problems for Korek subscribers after the authority stopped communications to and from Korek subscribers due to its policy, which needs to be amended to suit the demands of citizens, the state, and companies operating in the country.
