    The Parliamentary Integrity Committee confirmed today, Tuesday (March 12, 2024), that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani is determined to recover all smuggled funds from Iraq during the coming period.
    Committee member Ghareeb Al-Muradli told Baghdad Al-Youm, “The supervisory and judicial authorities in Iraq are keen to recover all the money smuggled abroad during the coming period, and there is real work and determination by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani on this matter through multiple steps, and there is Great progress on this issue.”
    Al-Muradli stated, “The Sudanese government is a government of services and combating corruption, and one of the most prominent files that the Sudanese is working to resolve within its program is the recovery of all smuggled funds, through various corruption operations over the past years, and there is political support for the government’s movements in this regard, and work is continuing to recover all the smuggled funds.” And stolen."
    The Integrity Commission announced in its 2023 report the recovery of more than 350 billion dinars to the state treasury, while noting that corruption funds smuggled outside Iraq amounted to more than 11 million dollars during that year.
    Estimates indicate that corruption money escaping outside Iraq amounts to more than $100 billion over the past 20 years.
