The leader of the State of Law coalition, Haid Al-Lami, confirmed that the popularity achieved by Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani does not qualify him for a second term.
Al-Lami said, in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, that “the political agreement between the blocs working in political work is the one who chooses the prime minister, not the number of votes cast for the candidate.”
He added, "The choice of the Prime Minister or the Speaker of the House of Representatives depends on political consensus and is not based on the popular base."
He pointed out that "Al-Maliki is the pyramid of the political process, stressing that the entire political process does not have a single person capable of competing with Al-Maliki."
