    Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday that his country supports the unity, sovereignty and stability of Iraq, with Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari invitation to Lavrov to visit Iraq in the context of deepening relations between the two countries.
    According to a Foreign Ministry statement reported for (Il Giornale) that "al-Jaafari met with Lavrov on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly in New York, during the meeting, review the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Moscow, and ways of enhancing joint cooperation in various fields in addition to discuss the overall situation taking place region and the world, and the war effort against Daesh terrorist gangs, and the Syrian crisis. "
    Lavrov praised the "great victories achieved by the Iraqis in their war against Daesh terrorist gangs", adding that "Russia supports the unity and sovereignty and stability of Iraq, and contribute to the provision of the necessary to eliminate terrorism supplies."
    Lavrov stressed "the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries, and to increase the volume of investment in many areas the service of the two friendly peoples."
    For his part, al-Jaafari stressed "the need to support a diplomatic solution, and the continuation of dialogue for the return of security and stability to the whole region and the world," and praised as "Russia's stances towards Iraq, particularly his help in the war against terrorists Daesh, and support in the Security Council, and international forums."
    He added that "Iraq is looking forward to further cooperation by the world's nations all especially as a lot of Iraqi territory has been liberated, and that efforts today are focused on configuration for the Liberation of Mosul," directed the call to Lavrov "to visit Iraq in the context of deepening relations between the two countries."
