Canada receives 800 Iraqi refugees

Canadian Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussein said Canada had received some 800 Iraqi refugees from Iraq a year ago, persecuted by a terrorist organization.
The Canadian parliament voted a year ago to describe the abuses against the Yezidis in northern Iraq as "genocide" and promised to receive 1,200 "most vulnerable survivors".
"I am proud today to announce that some 800 women, girls and others who have survived the Da'ash organization have already arrived and are beginning to rebuild their lives in Canada," he told parliament.
"I am still amazed by the generosity and empathy of the Canadians towards this very vulnerable group," said Hussein, a former refugee from Somalia.
