Netanyahu expects European countries to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel

JERUSALEM - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday praised US President Donald H. Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and predicted European countries would follow suit.
Before a meeting with European Union foreign ministers in Brussels, Netanyahu said Trump's decision, condemned by Palestinians and European governments, would contribute to the Middle East peace process.
He called on the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and accept Jerusalem as its capital.
A few minutes earlier, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mujerini told reporters greeting Netanyahu on the first visit by an Israeli prime minister to the European Union 22 years ago that the bloc would continue to abide by "international consensus" on Jerusalem.

JERUSALEM - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday praised US President Donald H. Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and predicted European countries would follow suit.
