The Saudi authorities intend to put their hands on MBC, the largest media organization in the Middle East owned by Alwaleed Al Ibrahim, as part of the crackdown on corruption led by Saudi Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Financial Times reported.

Saudi officials asked Ibrahim, the founder of MBC, to hand over his controlling interest in the company to his release from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh, the paper said.

The newspaper pointed out that Ibrahim is still in the hotel, where he awaits the Saudi authorities and international advisers to finalize the details of the settlement of its own, noting that the Saudi authorities have already told MBC that his release will be launched if he handed over shares in the company without charge. The newspaper said he expected Ibrahim to be released soon, quoting another "early" saying: "waiting to pack his bags."

For their part, some government advisers assumed that the delay in reaching a settlement with Ibrahim is due to the lawyers' seeking to formulate agreements that prevent the ability of detainees to try the authorities after their release, the newspaper quoted the "insiders."

In turn, the newspaper revealed that he had offered Ibrahim to remain a director at MBC after bin Salman, nicknamed "MBS", or the Saudi government hand over the company, run by a board of officials with the appointment of new owners.

Based on the above, the newspaper likened the fate of MBC to the Bin Laden Group, one of the largest construction companies in the Kingdom. The responsibility to "restructure" the company's debts.

The newspaper quoted the "insiders" as saying that bin Salman has always shown interest in MBC, as his associates have been in talks with Ibrahim to buy his stake in the company for about two years.

The newspaper added that Ibrahim rejected the pricing of "MBC" between two billion and two billion and a half dollars and set the price of between 3 billion and 3 billion and a half, although it attracts about half of the expenditure on television ads in the region, according to managers in this area.

About the arrest of Ibrahim, the newspaper explained that he boarded his own plane a few days before the launch of the crackdown on corruption at the invitation to visit Riyadh addressed to him close to bin Salman, thinking that his goal to end the talks on the purchase. The newspaper said that Ibrahim decided to go to Dubai, after canceling his meeting, explaining that officials at Riyadh airport told him that his plane is suspended from flight and the absence of civil flights can travel through, and the exclusive that he was stopped the next morning, after confirmation of the date of the meeting.

"When Mohammed needed to be popular a few years ago, he was ready to buy MBC," said one of them, who said that MBC was an obvious target for Ben Salman, Today, when he is in charge, he can simply put his hand on it. "
