[ltr]The commander of the US Central Command, General Joseph Fotill, said that "Washington does not plan to withdraw its troops stationed near the city of Manbj north of Syria, despite the warnings of Turkey," according to the station "CNN" news.[/ltr]
[ltr]"We are not thinking about withdrawing US troops from Manbaj," he told Reuters on a trip to the Middle East.[/ltr]
[ltr]There are about 2,000 US troops in northern Syria to support an alliance led by the Kurdish People's Protection Units, which helped expel an insurgent organization from its strongholds in Syria in 2017.[/ltr]
