    [ltr]Baghdad - Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The Popular Movement, which is part of the popular crowd, on Saturday condemned the US intention to impose sanctions on Baghdad because of the "popularization" of the Brams tanks.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The popular mobilization is a military institution belonging to the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and is officially linked to the state," spokesman Abu Warth al-Moussawi said. "The US administration has no right to impose any sanctions or disarm any military institution belonging to the state."[/ltr]
[ltr]Moussawi said that "these statements are blatant interference in the internal affairs of the country," noting that "Washington seeks within its project and its attack on the popular mobilization to block many of the political, economic and military projects in the country."[/ltr]
[ltr]Moussawi said, "The crowd is not a marginal case or a commission, but an integral part of the military establishment and its command is linked to the commander-in-chief of the armed forces."[/ltr]
[ltr]A US news website reported earlier that Washington could impose sanctions on Baghdad following a State Department report released this month that spoke of the takeover of one of Washington's most technologically advanced weapons sold to Iraq.[/ltr]
