The commander of the US Pacific Command, Admiral Harry Harris, on Friday accused Russia of systematically mimicking a nuclear strike on US soil as part of its military training.
"Russia's strategic nuclear forces are being developed and regularly conducting drills, simulating nuclear strikes on American territory," Harris said at a hearing of the Congressional Armed Services Committee.
The US Admiral believed that the aim of the Russian strategic bombers "to-95" along the US and Canadian border is to train crews to direct this strike.
Harris stressed that Russia's ground-based strategic forces were also working to imitate a nuclear strike targeting the United States and were conducting missile-launching exercises in the direction of North America.
The US Admiral also expressed his concern about the introduction of Russia into military service Bury submarines, equipped with ballistic missiles, noting that this type of war equipment significantly increased Russia's ability to strike its nuclear strike.
