Arrested for domestic violence After trying to suffocate and beat up their daughter and pour hot cooking oil on her , authorities in the southern city of San Antonio arrested Iraqis for assaulting their minor daughter and beating her after she refused to marry an elderly man.
According to local media, the 16-year-old girl, Maab al-Hashmawi, escaped from her home on January 30 and is now under the guardianship of a child care center and her five brothers.
Local authorities said the mother, Hamdiya al-Hashmawi, 33, and father Abdullah al-Hashmawi, 34, were arrested on charges of domestic violence after they tried to stifle their daughter and beat her and pour hot cooking oil on her.
She added that parents received $ 20,000 from the prospective husband to organize the wedding.
