The House Foreign Relations Committee on Saturday rejected Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's calls for US troops to remain in Syria and the Iraqi-Syrian border, warning him that the "atrocities" did not benefit Saddam Hussein.
"The presence of US forces in the region will increase the tension and be a cause of sedition, because there is no consensus on its existence," said member of the Committee Khalid al-Asadi said, "The Iraqi-Syrian borders should be protected in coordination between the governments of Baghdad and Damascus Which prevents the infiltration of terrorists. "
Al-Asadi added that "it is not in the interest of anyone to continue the bleeding of blood in Syria, so we hope the end of the crisis and battles there," expressing "Iraq's readiness to play a positive role in the truce if asked to, but will not enter a party in any conflict in the region."
On the recent Saudi escalation against Iran and the possibility of a war between Riyadh and Tehran in the coming years, al-Asadi stressed that "the antics did not benefit Saddam and will not benefit any other regime," stressing the need to "stay away from any speech that provokes convulsions because we are not ready to be harmful to any war Led by these intrigues.
