[ltr]WASHINGTON - The US military is planning to send dozens of troops to northern Syria, the US military network CNN reported on Tuesday.[/ltr]
[ltr]The sources said that the plans were subjected to search for several days, before the statements by US President Donald Trump last weekend intention to withdraw US troops from Syria "very soon."[/ltr]
[ltr]CNN said that Trump's remarks embarrassed many at the Pentagon and that the National Security Council will meet today to discuss the US administration's plans to fight "Da'ash" and the fate of about 2,000 US troops in Syria.[/ltr]
[ltr]Trump's remarks came on the same day that two soldiers, one American and the other British, were killed in an explosion in the Syrian city of Manbeg.[/ltr]
[ltr]US forces have begun to reinforce their military positions in the northern city of Manbeg to counter any potential Turkish operation that could include the city in the fight against terrorism.[/ltr]
[ltr]The reinforcements sent by Washington to the vicinity of Manbaj coming from its base in the town of Srin, about 300 soldiers and a large number of armored vehicles and heavy equipment, reached the area between the city of Manbj and the "Furat Shield" in the northern countryside of Aleppo.[/ltr]
