China is ready to reciprocate the actions of the United States after Washington published a list of 1,300 Chinese goods, with new tariffs being proposed, the Commerce Ministry said Wednesday.
"According to the People's Republic of China's Law on Foreign Trade, we will prepare similar measures of the United States with scope and impact, and these measures will be announced soon," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, "China is confident and has every potential to respond to any US protectionist measures in the commercial field."
The United States earlier published a list of 1,300 Chinese goods that could be charged for import duties in response to China's violation of intellectual property rights of US products.
