Iraq is considering an Iraqi request to invest 1 million hectares of farmland in Anbar province, the agriculture ministry said on Monday.

The conference of donors for Iraq, held in Kuwait in mid-February, during which Baghdad launched hundreds of projects to invest.

Al-Qaisi added that "contacts between Iraq and Saudi Arabia have been going on for some time, and we await the response of the Saudi side, especially as it is related to the investment side and investors are companies," without giving further details.

The percentage of arable land in Iraq is 27 percent of the total area of Iraq, equivalent to 48 million acres, but the actual use does not exceed 12 million only.
