    The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announced on Tuesday that it is implementing an EU-funded project aimed at increasing incomes of families living on the Nineveh plain west of Mosul.

    "Once the important agricultural assets and irrigation infrastructure are restored, the project will provide water to 70,000 hectares of currently unproductive land that can be used to grow winter wheat crops, which means that 30,000 vulnerable agricultural households will be able to produce food on their land again, .
    Many of the families involved in the cash-for-work side of the program do not have any other source of income. The program participants are women and other marginalized groups and benefit from the work of the community as well as individuals and families.
