    Information / Baghdad ...
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced that the country will not abandon its trade and economic relations with Iran despite the new US sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Speaking at a weekly news conference, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Faisal said his country, as a sovereign country, had the right to choose the parties with which it would conduct its official economic and trade activities.
The diplomat expressed Islamabad's firm commitment to its trade and economic ties with Tehran, as well as their cooperation on various regional and international issues, including restoring stability in neighboring Afghanistan.
Imran Khan, the leader of the Al-Insaf movement, which won the parliamentary elections two weeks ago, said Iran was among the traditional partners of his country, vowing to develop cooperation with it.
The decision came despite the imposition by the United States of a new package of sanctions on the Islamic Republic recently, with the threat of pursuing countries that will continue to cooperate with Tehran.
